When circuit breakers fail, Sperrin Switchgear advises the client using their industry expertise the best solution. In the normal case there are three options; to replace the switchboard, repair the faulty circuit breaker or to retrofit with a new modern circuit breaker.

Sperrin design a retro fit kit based on the clients required solution using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to modernise the current ACB. Smart meters may be installed into the new modular solution such as CTs and voltage reference fuses.

 

The newly designed interconnecting coppers are then fully tested before dispatch in order to ensure the new solution can withstand short circuit stress.

 

Once the testing aspect as fulfilled its requirements, the retrofitting design is installed into the existing system with minimal downtime. Retrofitting offers clients a more cost effective solution compared with an entire switchboard replacement.
