CHP / BIO-GAS
Northern Ireland has one of the best wind resources in Europe. Sperrin have designed, manufactured and tested over 100 wind turbine switchboards, rated between 500kW to 1MW across both the UK & Ireland.
According to research carried out by NI Direct wind turbines can have a life of up to 22.5 years, but require service checks every few years to make sure they work efficiently. To complement their industry wide expertise, Sperrin are listed as one of Northern Ireland's Electricity G59 approved list of installers.
CHP / BIO-GAS
Combined heat and power ( CHP ) is a highly efficient process that captures and utilises the heat that is a by-product of the electricity generation process. Biogas refers to a mixture of different gases produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen.
Sperrin has manufactured switchgear suitable for a range of generators including recycling plants. An exemplar case is Surrey Eco Park which facilities process waster from households in Surrey, turning it into a fuel to produce power for the national grid and fertiliser.
In 2011, the UK government released a renewable energy climate change road map to ensure a reduction in carbon emission of 80 % by the year 2050. One of the key factors which influence this is the amount of energy sourced from renewable energy.
In 2017 alone, PV Cells in particular generated 11.5 TWh of UK's energy, due both the rise in domestic and commercialised use.
