TESTING SERVICES

Sperrin Switchgear is well known for their quality products, all switchboards go through a rigorous pre-test check list and a thorough testing procedure which ensures our products reach the expected standards and safety.

Test certificates are completed for each switchboard and signed off by both the switchboard technician that built the switchboard and the test engineer.

Certification and test sheets record all the necessary results associated with each board.

FAULT & FLASH TESTING

POWER ANALYSIS

The unit used for this test can produce up to a 4kV test voltage which will expose any breakdown in insulation or short circuits present.

Installation of a power analyser on site to monitor the electrical supply parameters over a certain period of time and generate a report from the findings.

PRIMARY CURRENT INJECTION

SECONDARY INJECTION TESTER

Sperrins specialist equipment allows a primary current of up to 3000A to be injected when commissioning and maintenance testing over current protection devices. The equipment has been designed to meet the requirements of BS EN61010

Secondary current injection tests verity the correct function of the air circuit breakers and moulded case circuit breakers during start up and maintenance. Sperrin has a full function test kit to carry out this test.

THERMAL IMAGING

CONTACT & JOINT TESTING

Sperrin have carried out countless contact resistance and busbar joint tests. Our fully automatic system selects the most suitable test current up to 10 A dc, allowing measurement in the resistance range 0.1 µΩ to 2000 Ω.

This specific test highlights any hot spots or imbalances that may cause premature problems and is mainly used as a preventative maintenance test.

ULTRASONIC TESTING

Arcing, tracking and corona all produce ionization which disturbs the surrounding air molecules. An Ultraprobe detects high frequency sounds produced by these emissions and translates them (via heterodyning) down into the audible ranges. Sperrin have specialist test equipment to measure the intensity of this signal.
